Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

What is rhinoplasty?

Cosmetic surgery of the nose, also called rhinoplasty, involves reshaping the internal cartilage framework of the nose in order to change its external appearance. The procedure can improve the shape, size and general appearance of the nose as well as the overall balance of facial features.

Although reshaping of the nose is usually performed for cosmetic reasons, rhinoplasty can also be performed to correct breathing difficulties that may have been caused by a previous nasal injury.

Is rhinoplasty right for me?

Always talk to your aesthetic plastic surgeon before deciding whether nasal reshaping surgery is appropriate for you. Rhinoplasty may be a good option if you feel that your nose is too big or unnaturally heavy for your face. Sometimes the tip of your nose may appear full or to lack definition. This can be helped by nasal reshaping surgery.

Alterations may be made to increase or decrease the nasal bridge, reduce the size or width of the nose, narrow the nostrils, change the angle between the nose and the upper lip, or reshape the tip.

The results are permanent, although you may experience gradual changes as you age.

Potential complications

All surgery comes with some degree of risk. For example, bleeding and infection are possible. Fortunately, significant complications following rhinoplasty are usually infrequent. Don’t worry, your surgeon will fully explain potential complications during the consultation process and will commit to supporting you during your recovery period.

SURGERY & RECOVERY

During surgery

Your time in surgery may vary according to your individual needs and the specifics of the procedures being performed. Your surgeon will fully explain all details to you during consultation.

Recovery

One of the most important reasons for choosing a reputable surgeon is knowing they will be by your side throughout the recovery process, ready to reassure and support you at every stage. Ask your surgeon what the recovery process will involve for you.
