Happy New Year! Happy New You!

Cosmetic surgery trends for 2018

Have you been holding off for the perfect time to invest in a new nose?  Or do you want to start the New Year with a fresh looking face?  The summer months are the peak time for people to have their cosmetic procedures done.  Here are some of the most popular procedures people will be asking for in 2018.

Fillers and anti-wrinkle injectables

Fillers and anti-wrinkle injectables are the most readily available, quick fix to give your face a fresher, more wrinkle-free appearance.

Fillers are used primarily to plump and fill areas of the face.  Examples include fuller lips, fuller cheeks, enhancing sunken eyes and reducing the appearance of more prominent wrinkles.  Fillers are an excellent tool for fighting off the ageing process and enhancing your appearance

On the other hand, anti-wrinkle injectables’ sole purpose is to selectively weaken certain facial muscles to reduce crow’s feet wrinkles, elevate the brows, help turn up the lips and soften your chin pad.  When used correctly anti-wrinkle injectables can dramatically reduce early and moderate signs of ageing by minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles or reshaping the eyebrows.

It’s important that you see a skilled injector who has an intimate knowledge of the face’s muscle groups so they can accurately determine the placement and quantity needed to achieve the desired result.

Breast augmentation AKA a boob job

Having a breast augmentation or a ‘boob job’ done refers to enlarging the size of the breasts, commonly using implants, which are placed under the skin or under the pectoralis muscle.

Breast implants come in many different shapes and sizes and a Specialist Plastic Surgeon will take the time to get to know you and your lifestyle to ensure the right implants are chosen to achieve your desired outcome.

Liposuction

Liposuction, also called lipoplasty or suction-assisted lipectomy, removes deposits of excess fat from areas of the body such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, face and neck.  Liposuction is suitable for men and women of relatively normal weight who have isolated pockets of fat.

Liposuction can be performed on several areas of the body at the same time and is often combined with other cosmetic surgical procedures.  Your Specialist Plastic Surgeon will discuss the best options for you.

Rhinoplasty AKA a nose job

Rhinoplasty, also commonly called a nose job, involves reshaping the internal cartilage framework of the nose in order to change its external appearance.

Alterations may be made to increase or decrease the nasal bridge, reduce the size or width of the nose, narrow the nostrils, change the angle between the nose and the upper lip, or reshape the tip.  The results are permanent, although you may experience gradual changes as you age.

Although reshaping of the nose is usually performed for cosmetic reasons, rhinoplasty can also be performed to correct breathing difficulties that may have been caused by a previous nasal injury.
