The Anatomical Dissection and Cosmetic Procedures Workshop 2021

Before the NSS 2021 starts on Friday, 19 November, let’s bring aesthetic learning to a more intimate and engaging experience through a 1-day practical session the day prior.

Through a combination of fresh cadaver dissections, hands-on learning, live demonstrations with various new formats – rotating lectures and videos – the Workshop will cover traditional and advanced injection skills for both, neuromodulator and soft tissue fillers.

Schedule

FORMATS INCLUDE:

SESSIONS:

Group 1: Morning: anatomy lectures and videos

Group 2: Morning: live dissection and techniques on cadaver – face, neck focusing on danger zones in small groups, with a rotation every 20-30’

Group 1: Afternoon: live dissection and techniques on cadaver – face, neck focusing on danger zones, in small groups, with a rotation every 20-30’

Group 2: Afternoon: anatomy lectures and videos

For each post:

  1. the instructor performs the dissection of the dedicated location on one hemiface. Then, time permitting, dissection is performed by the attendees on the other hemiface and neck.
  2. each participant injects in that respective region under supervision and guidance by an expert

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

  1. Combination of fresh cadaver dissections, hands-on as well as live demonstrations on basic and advanced techniques
  2. Focus on levels, zones and plans for technical practice purposes
    1. Facial ageing
    2. Facial “high risk” and “low risk” zones
    3. Facial layers
    4. Muscles
    5. Fatty tissues (superficial and deep fat compartments)
    6. Relationship to bone and dermo-epidermic level
    7. Danger to important structures, mainly the facial artery and venous systems and nerves

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) – Medical Engineering Research Facility (MERF).

The  Anatomical Dissection and Cosmetic Procedures will take place at QUT MERF.

Information on QUT MERF:

The Medical Engineering Research Facility (MERF) supports medical devices research and development cycle in a state-of-the-art QUT facility. QUT MERF enables cutting-edge research, and also supports health research advances at the Prince Charles Hospital

MERF have capabilities for preclinical studies, including post-explantation evaluation, and facilities for hands-on skills training for surgeons, theatre staff and sales personnel.

Backed by rigorous academic research from the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, MERF provides preclinical research models in small and large animals for the assessment of new biomaterials, medical devices, implants and surgical techniques. We have a strong focus on applications in orthopaedics, but our capabilities extend to all clinical fields.

MERF provides a responsive service in a GLP-accredited environment, with well-established animal and cadaver research, and training models. Their dedicated team comprises international experts and includes surgeons, veterinary scientists and a quality assurance personnel.

Parking

Please see MAP of QUT below.  Parking is available around the Medical Engineering Research Facility (MERF), however, please note parking is limited.

If you are driving, it is imperative to allow sufficient time to find parking at QUT MERF prior to the workshop commencing at 8.00am.

Buses

PULLMPULLMAN BRISBANE to QUT MERF – 18 November, Morning

On the morning of the workshop, a bus will pick up delegates from the Pullman Brisbane foyer and drop off at QUT MERF. Parking is very limited at QUT MERF as it is a university so catching the bus is recommended.
 
Those staying at the Pullman will be required to put their luggage on the bus in the morning as the bus will not return to the Pullman. Luggage will be stored on the bus during the day. Those not continuing on the Non-Surgical Symposium will be required to remove their bags from the bus at the conclusion at the event.
 

QUT MERF to THE GOLD COAST (NON-SURGICAL SYMPOSIUM) – 18 November, Evening

Upon the conclusion of the workshop a bus transfer is available to transport all delegates attending the Non-Surgical Symposium from QUT MERF to the Gold Coast. This bus transfer must be pre-booked via this website as seats are limited.

Please note that the buses will only be stopping at Sofitel Gold Coast and The Star. If you are making alternative hotel arrangements you will need to make your own way from one of these hotel properties.

All fees are in Australian dollars inclusive of GST. This event is strictly limited to 60 places. Registration fees increase after 17 September 2021, as per table below.

Registration Categories

ASAPS/ASCD/NZSCM Member – anyone registering within this category must be a member with either ASAPS (Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons), Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists (ASCD) or NZSCM (New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine).  All registrations received under this category will be verified with the Societies.

Non Member Doctor – anyone registering within this category may be a General Practitioner, Dermatologist, Cosmetic Physician, Facial Plastic Surgeon (ENT), Ophthalmic Surgeon or Non-ASAPS Specialist Plastic Surgeon. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Trainees – anyone registering within this category must be training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). All registrations received under this category will be verified.

ASAPS/ASCD/NZSCM Registered Nurse / Nurse Practitioner – anyone registering within this category must have their registration verified by an ASAPS, ASCD or NZSCM member in active practice.  Your registration will not be confirmed until we have received verification.

ASAPS/ASCD/NZSCM Practice Staff – anyone registering within this category must have their registration verified by an ASAPS, ASCD or NZSCM member in active practice.  Your registration will not be confirmed until we have received verification.

Non-Member Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner – anyone registering within this category must have their registration verified by a General Practitioner in active practice.  Your registration will not be confirmed until we have received verification

Non-Member Practice Staff – anyone registering within this category must have their registration verified by a General Practitioner in active practice.  Your registration will not be confirmed until we have received verification.

Cancellation Policy

Registration cancellations received up to Friday 15 October 2021 will receive a full refund, less $300.00 administration fee. No refunds will be given for registration cancellations received after Friday 15 October 2021. As an alternative to cancellation, registrations may be transferred to another person (for the same registration category) before Friday 15 October 2021 without receiving any extra cost penalty. The members of the ASAPS Council and The Production House Events do not accept any liability for any losses incurred pre, post or during the Workshop due to unforeseen cancellation or postponement. In the event of the Workshop being cancelled, no refunds will be issued. All available funds will be credited towards a future workshop/s held by ASAPS.

Non-Surgical Symposium

The Non-Surgical Symposium (NSS) is a 3 day event open to all medical practitioners, nurses and practice staff working in the aesthetic medicine industry. It is the biggest of its kind in Australasia and welcomes industry experts from around the globe, as well as over 1000 attendees every year.

The NSS follows the Anatomical Dissection and Cosmetic Procedures Workshop, however please note these two events take place in different cities and are two seperate registration fees.

The Anatomical Workshop takes place in Brisbane, and a bus is provided to take attendees to the Gold Coast where the Non-Surgical Symposium will be held. Please see below for bus details.
